Watercolour heightened with body colour. The arrival of the monarch in the Irish State Coach at the Palace of Westminster marking the commencement of the State Opening of Parliament, in which King reads the King's Speech, outlining the government's legislative agenda, to assembled members in the House of Lords.
Charles Thomas Howard (1865-1942) was a Lincolnshire born, London-based postcard illustrator. His worked covered a wide range of subjects. He specialised in ceremonial subjects and is perhaps best known for a series of postcards for London Zoo. He exhibited at the Royal Academy.
